John, a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man,. I and our children appreciate your words. Keith had touched the lives of many (120 people came to his funeral) and my message to them all was be glad you knew him. I have re-read the lyrics of the song and now can see how it fits.
Keith and I were still on our journey of life together and had plans for the future but he chose to go another route without me. I must learn to continue the journey alone until hopefully our paths converge and we meet again.

My thanks Ken for your considered comments. Totally agree - Keith was about the same age. "Don’t wait until it happens to appreciate them." - good advice indeed.

You expect old people to die, until you become one of them. When you're young, death is only a vague, unspoken concept. Grandparents. Parents. Friends. It gets closer and more relevant. Not to dwell on, but to be aware of. Ray Pelletier was the first of my friends to die. Age 57. Complications following a hernia operation. Hundreds of people commented online about how he helped them - he was a professional motivational speaker. The archiving/database systems weren't great in 2005 and, somehow, the comments were lost. Now, it's just the memories that exist. To those who read the post, and this comment, keep things in perspective. You're friends and family will soon be gone. Don't wait until it happens to appreciate them.

This in from PW - posted on his behalf ...

Just watched a 2006 TED (http://www.TED.com) presentation featuring David Pogue. He said something interesting/funny. The entire size of Mac's first OS was 211k and now you couldn't put the Mac OS X logo in 211k.
